Participation in physical activity can improve mental health and well-being, but outcomes depend on the type, domain, environment, and delivery method. This presentation offers the latest research evidence and guidance for practitioners to enhance mental health benefits through physical activity. Professor Lubans’ multidisciplinary research primarily focuses on the design, evaluation, and dissemination of school-based physical activity interventions. Much of this work involves collaborations with government and non-government organizations. His secondary area of research explores the impact of physical activity on young people’s mental health, cognitive function, and academic performance.
